As one of the oldest and most prominent universities in the Atlanta area, Clark Atlanta University began an initive to improve their campus energy cost and efficiency. Traditionally, Clark Atlanta University shared central boiler and steam plant facilities with other surrounding schools. To achieve lower costs of operation Clark Atlanta elected to modernize and expand these existing facilities.
Teaming with the ESG, Capital City Mechanical designed and completely rebuilt the main plant. The existing steam boilers were replaced and a new electrode boiler was added. Capital City Mechanical also provided and installed a new chiller, towers and heat exchangers which included a complex network of over 18000 feet of underground pipe from the main plant. Capital City also expanded the capacity of the plant so several new buildings could be added as needed.
